September 13, 1960 – Pete Best joined the band as drummer. At that time the band was known as The Silver Beetles.
September 14, 1963 – “She Loves You”/”I’ll Get You” reached No. 1 in the UK charts, staying there for four weeks.
September 15, 1964 – At the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, OH, The Beatles had to leave the stage for 15 minutes during their show so that police could gain control of the hysterical crowd.
September 17, 1964 – A world record was broken when The Beatles were paid $150,000 to add a show to their American tour in Kansas City, Missouri.
September 16, 1965 – “Eight Days A Week” reached gold record status in the US.
September 18, 1966 – In Spain on location for the movie “How I Won the War,” John wrote “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
September 13, 1967 – Filming for “Magical Mystery Tour” continued at Watergate Bay, Holywell, and Perth.
September 14, 1968 – “Hey Jude”/”Revolution” climbed to the top of the UK charts, staying there for 2 weeks.
September 13, 1969 – The Plastic Ono Band debuted at the Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Playing with John and Yoko was Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann and Alan White. John’s decision to leave The Beatles was kept quiet because of legal issues.
September 17, 1976 – Ringo’s album, “Ringo’s Rotogravure” was released in Britain.
