October 9, 1940 – John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England.
October 5, 1962 – “Love Me Do”/”P.S. I Love You” was released in the UK as The Beatles’ first single.
October 4, 1963 – The boys appeared on “Ready, Steady, Go!” in a live broadcast from Television House in London. They lip synched to “Twist and Shout,” “I’ll Get You,” and “She Loves You” while fans danced around them.
October 6, 1964 – “Eight Days A Week” was recorded at Abbey Road.
October 9, 1967 – The Beatles began a 27-date British tour, starting at the Gaumont Cinema in Bradford.
October 9, 1965 – “Yesterday” climbed to No. 1 in the US charts, staying there for four weeks.
October 7, 1967 – Sid Bernstein offered The Beatles 1 million dollars to perform live once again, but the band refused.
October 6, 1968 – The promotional film for “Hey Jude” was screened on “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.”
October 4, 1969 – The album “Abbey Road” quickly went to No. 1 on the UK album charts, remaining there for 11 weeks.
October 8, 1971 – John’s “Imagine” album was released in the UK.
