October 18, 1957 – Paul made his debut with John’s band, the Quarry Men. He played lead guitar but was demoted to rhythm guitar after messing up his solo.
October 23, 1963 – The band flew to Sweden to begin their first tour abroad.
October 21, 1964 – The Beatles played at the Odeon Cinema in Glasgow. Following the show, 9 fans were arrested after a riot involving hundreds of fans. Cars were overturned and windows were smashed.
October 20, 1965 – “Yesterday” went gold in the US.
October 22, 1966 – “Revolver” was awarded a gold disc in the UK.
October 18, 1967 – The band attended the premier of “How I Won The War,” a film in which John Lennon played a soldier.
October 25, 1968 – John and Yoko announced that Yoko was pregnant, with a due date in February 1969.
October 24, 1973 – John accused the US government of illegal surveillance and wire taps. He insisted a fair deportation trial was impossible.
October 18, 1977 – The Beatles won the Best British Pop Album for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” at the British Record Industry Britannia Awards. The event was held to honor British since 1952; the year the Queen became the Queen.
October 24, 1979 – The “Guinness Book of Records” presented Paul with a rhodium disc for most successful popular-music composer and recording artist ever with sales of 100 million singles and 60 gold discs.
