Dear Lowe’s – I’ll Take that Bathroom You Destroyed

Lowe's Destroys Pink BathroomJust two months ago I called Lowe’s out for labeling a retro-dorable front door the ugliest. And now the company’s gone and destroyed an equally fabulous retro-style pink bathroom.

Check out this commercial, party of the company’s “Never Stop Improving” campaign, whereas a wife takes a sledgehammer to all that is retro:

Thanks to Pam Kueber over at Retro Renovation for pointing this one out. She’s on a crusade to protect pink bathrooms and I could only imagine how much she cringed at first glance.

Lowe’s titled the video: “Can’t Stand It – Bath”. Raise your hand if you’d love to have that bathroom in your home. I know I would!

well its pink ..but from what I can see here its not really retro … not the really cool kind of retro .. it looks like new-ish everything with pink tile ..which is cute but its not retro ..like from the cool stuff in the 30;s to 40s ,50s ,60s stuff is… and I do see them wreck the cool stuff on tv and that can break your heart for sure.

My bathroom was built in 1957 and I have the exact same pink tile, towel bar, soap dish, and faucet.  Now I wish I had that tub!

Hiya, @Donnadidit… Granted, there are many elements missing (i.e. the fixtures are white), but for many, the tile design and “feel” is in retro style. Definitely new stuff, but it’s the idea behind it. :-)

TOTALLY agree!!!! They just go and smash up beautiful vintage bathrooms all over HGTV and DIY and replace them with the requisite standard “tumbled marble and granite” that (hopefully) will be smashed out in 10-20 years!! LOL. I can just picture the people of the future walking in and going “Oh no…. not granite and tumbled marble tile AGAIN!”

Ah, good point… I actually don’t care for the tumbled marble/granite look much – and I especially don’t care for it in the bathroom.
