Collecting Vintage Popcorn Bags and Boxes

Vintage Popcorn BoxNOS Popcorn Bags and Boxes

Want an easy way to start collecting vintage items? Collecting vintage popcorn bags and/or boxes is both inexpensive and fun. These items can be found quite easily online, at flea markets and in antique stores.

Vintage bags and boxes are colorful, and can have interesting detail depending on who they were made for and their age. You’ll find examples of bags and boxes made for the Ringling Brothers Circus, Coca-Cola and Jolly Time, as well as various popcorn machine companies.

These collectibles are considered part of the NOS classification of vintage items – NOS stands for “new old stock”, and means such items are unused. NOS items often can be in very good condition.

Unlike soda machines and cars, popcorn bags and boxes take up little space. These small items can data back to the 1920s and many portray some great vintage advertising images.

My grandfather had a ton of these in his garage. Growing up I LOVED going over there and looking at them. I could never get him to let me use them for popcorn though! haha! Great blog Ann.
