In December of 1963, “I Want To Hold Your Hand” went to the top of the British charts, staying there for 5 weeks.
“I Want To Hold Your Hand”/”This Boy” was released in Britain. It was the first single to receive advance orders of over 1 million.
In November of 1963, the “Daily Mirror” coined the phrase “Beatlemania” while reviewing their first performance of the “The Beatles Autumn Tour.”
On October 21, 1964, The Beatles played at the Odeon Cinema in Glasgow. Following the show, 9 fans were arrested after a riot involving hundreds of fans. Cars were overturned and windows were smashed.
On October 5, 1962 “Love Me Do”/”P.S. I Love You” was released in the UK as The Beatles’ first single.
