1950’s Lusse Skooter Bumper Car

This bumper car is an early 1950’s Lusse Skooter. It is one of the 3 electric-powered cars that we restored here at Vintage Vending. Lusse Brothers was a Philadelphia company that began as a supplier of rollercoaster parts for Philadelphia Toboggan. When the company’s owners, Joseph and Robert Lusse, saw the popularity of the recently invented bumper car rides, they decided to make a go of producing their own version. Over the years, they acquired 9 different patent designs for bumper cars, or Skooters, as they called them.

This model Lusse Skooter was manufactured in the early 1950’s. Its sleek lines are similar to the car designs of the early 50’s, with their fancy chrome accents, right down to the bumper car’s grill and hood ornament.
